Mississippi CBD Law

Mississippi is not a marijuana-friendly state because of its restrictive stances towards CBD. Even with the presentation of several bills in the past few years, recreational marijuana hasn’t found its way in Mississippi.

In 2014, Gov. Phil Bryant signed HB 1231 popularly known as Harper Grace’s Law. The bill creates an affirmative for the usage and possession of CBD oil under very strict conditions. The bill offers legal protection for patients diagnosed with debilitating epileptic conditions.

That said, the law allows the medical use of CBD that contains no more than 0.5 percent of THC and at least 15 percent of CBD.

Additionally, patients can obtain CBD oil after a doctor’s recommendation at the University of Mississippi  Medical center dispensed by the Department of Pharmacy Services. All the CBD products under this law must be grown and tested by the University of Mississippi’s National Center for Natural Products Research

In 2017, the Mississippi Legislature passed SB 2610, which authorized the use of CBD in research in the treatment of seizures and other health conditions. However, the bill didn’t legalize it more widely.
